HOW CONNECTORS WORK
Connector Workflow

From authentication
to action.

Every connector follows the same four-step pattern: authenticate, map, handle errors, monitor. The connector layer abstracts all the complexity so your flow focuses on business logic, not integration plumbing.

01
Connect
Select your connector from the library and authenticate using the built-in credential vault. Credentials are encrypted at rest and never exposed in the flow canvas or logs.
02
Map Fields
Drag from the connector's output schema to the inputs of the next node. Use transformation expressions, static values, or outputs from previous nodes.
03
Handle Errors
Define what happens when a connector call fails. Configure retry count, backoff strategy, alternate routing, and notification rules for permanent failures.
04
Monitor
Every connector call is logged with request payload, response, latency, and status. View connector health across all flows from the monitoring dashboard.
Authentication Methods
OAuth 2.0
Token-based delegated authorization for modern SaaS platforms.
API Key
Static key authentication stored in encrypted vault.
Basic Auth
Username and password over HTTPS for legacy systems.
HMAC Signature
Cryptographic request signing for security-critical integrations.
Credential Vault
All connector credentials are stored in an AES-256 encrypted vault, isolated per organization. Credentials are never written to flow logs or visible in the canvas. Rotate credentials at any time without modifying your flows.

FAQ

Common questions about Flows Connectors

Flows includes 150+ pre-built connectors across CRM, ERP, data warehouses, communication platforms, finance systems, and productivity tools. A custom API connector lets you integrate any system with an HTTP API.
Each connector supports the authentication method native to the target system: OAuth 2.0, API key, Basic Auth, HMAC signature, or certificate-based. Credentials are stored in an encrypted vault and never exposed in the flow canvas.
Connector calls support configurable retry policies at the node level. If retries are exhausted, the flow routes to the error handling path you define. All failures are logged with full request and response data for debugging.
Yes. The custom API connector lets you define the base URL, authentication, headers, and endpoint paths. Any system with an HTTP API can be integrated. The Maxx Stacks team also builds custom connectors for enterprise clients on request.
Each connector node exposes its output schema, and you map fields visually to the inputs of downstream nodes. The builder supports direct field mapping, transformation expressions, and lookup tables — all without code.
