Top-P Sampling
Large Language Models· Intermediate
Definition
Also called nucleus sampling — a text generation strategy that restricts token selection to the smallest set of tokens whose cumulative probability exceeds probability P. More adaptive than top-K sampling, producing more coherent outputs by dynamically adjusting the candidate pool based on the probability distribution.
Enterprise Context
Standard parameter in LLM API calls. Enterprise deployments tune temperature and top-P together to balance creativity vs. precision based on use case requirements.
