Definition
Two fundamental classification metrics. Precision measures what fraction of positive predictions were correct (avoiding false positives). Recall measures what fraction of actual positives were detected (avoiding false negatives). The F1 score is the harmonic mean of both — balancing the precision-recall tradeoff.
