Calibration

Evaluation· Advanced

Definition

The alignment between a model's stated confidence in its predictions and the actual accuracy of those predictions. A well-calibrated model that says it's 80% confident should be correct 80% of the time. Miscalibrated models mislead users — overconfident models are particularly dangerous in high-stakes applications.

Enterprise Context

Critical for enterprise decision support. AI systems used in medical diagnosis, financial forecasting, or legal review must be well-calibrated — overconfidence causes errors with serious consequences.
